Montmagny, July 17, 2019 – Bernard Généreux, Member of Parliament for Montmagny—L’Islet—Kamouraska—Rivière du Loup, completed a tour of community organizations in June. This tour rounded out a series of four tours of the constituency since the beginning of his term.

After the 2015 election, the MP promised that he would maintain a presence throughout his area, which covers approximately 7,500 square kilometres. “I felt the need to take better ownership of my constituency and to become better acquainted with the people who live in it. After my four tours, I can undoubtedly say that this mission has been accomplished!”

It should be noted that each tour focused on a specific theme, such as tourism, business, agri food and community. “Meeting the people in my constituency helped me to build ties, to better understand the realities and issues, and above all, to see all the work and successes in our magnificent region. I also take great pride in these accomplishments. I am pleased and even duty bound to talk about these achievements and challenges, both here in Ottawa and further afield,” he added.

If he is re elected, Mr. Généreux plans to take part in other tours of this nature. He admitted that he already had ideas in mind. “I am not revealing them at the moment, but I hope to be able to announce them the day after October 21,” he said. He remained optimistic, while keeping both feet on the ground.

Tour videos
Following these different tours, videos were posted on Bernard Généreux’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. Constituents can currently watch the videos of his most recent meetings with community organizations. Photos of the tours will also appear in the upcoming MP newsletter, which will be distributed in August.

One tour, one tree
Mr. Généreux is aware of the environmental impact of the tours, and he will personally offset the carbon footprint. For each tour, trees will be planted at two of the locations visited. The MP will plant the trees himself, along with team members from the selected organizations. Mr. Généreux plans to take the same action when he travels as part of his election campaign.
