PRESS RELEASE | Bernard Généreux, MP for Montmagny ― L’Islet ― Kamouraska ― Rivière-du-Loup, and his team are once again providing constituents with three opportunities to renew or apply for a first adult or child passport. The clinics will be held from Thursday, April 25, to Saturday, April 27, in Rivière-du-Loup, Ste-Perpétue and Montmagny, respectively.
Trained volunteers will guide constituents through the application process, whether it is for a simplified renewal, a general application for adults, or an application for a child under 16. The clinics will be held at Hôtel Universel (311 boul. de l’Hôtel de ville) in Rivière-du-Loup on Thursday, April 25, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; at the Municipal Hall (366 rue Principale Sud) in Ste-Perpétue on Friday, April 26, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and at the Amable Bélanger Building (6 rue St-Jean-Baptiste est) in Montmagny on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“My team handles more than a thousand applications and provides full service, from looking over the applications to mailing them in. Processing time is 20 business days, or about six weeks. My team can even help constituents replace a lost, stolen or damaged passport. No appointment necessary—just show up at the clinic with what is required,” said Mr. Généreux.
A ten-year passport costs $160, and a five-year passport costs $120. A child’s passport is $57 and lasts for five years. Payment can be made by credit card, money order or certified cheque payable to the Receiver General for Canada.
A professional photographer will be on site ($15, cash only). Copies of identification documents can be made free of charge. It is strongly recommended that the guarantor be present to vouch for the applicant’s identity. Originals of unlaminated birth certificates issued after January 1994 are required, as are the names of two non-family members who have known the applicant for over two years.
